Catellani & Smith
Catellani & Smith was established in 1989 following a meeting between Carlo Catellani and Logan Smith on the Balearic island of Menorca in 1985, which gave rise to the idea of designing and producing decorative lamps and everyday objects. Catellani & Smith is unusual in the fact that it originated as a craft industry but today is in tune with the most advanced technology as a leading company in the lighting sector. In 1992 the offices and workshop headquarters relocated to Villa Di Serio, a small town situated 5km from Bergamo in Lombardy, Italy. The offices are housed in an old restored mill with a view over the hills, and production takes place in two distinct areas: one along the river and the second in a new warehouse in the industrial area, which consists of large luminous spaces and terraces covered with jasmine plants. The roof features a gravel surface, large Indian vases , a bust of Buddha and a 360° view.
